Re: Places you bring your terak to in Singapore
Well, having been in your exact same position, multiple times in fact, here are my suggestions.
Again, first off, it depends from girl to girl, and I can't help you there. Use your intuition or just ask Food Local Chicken Rice is a favorite with most. (Hainanese, if you feelin' rich, Boon Tong Kee, River Valley. If not, the 5 Star Chicken Rice a few stalls down is as good, and cheaper.) Japanese Pretty much anywhere, as long as it is of a decent standard. They have pretty good Japanese resturaunts in BKK, so don't bring to sub-par places. Franchises like Sakae Sushi (which is NOT value for money) is okay. Others Italian food generally sits well with them. Well, at least for 2 of the girls I have been out with. Well, maybe it's because I cooked for them... But cooking for a girl, no matter what race, generally makes them really happy. I'm a "hobby chef" if there is even such a term, I just cook for fun, so I ain't no 5 star resturaunt chef with awesome tastes and presentation. Where NOT to bring: - Western Food (Unless they ask) - Indian Food (Most if not all can't take the amount of spice, so if you are trying to save by bringing them for Prata, tough luck) Also, most Thai girls eat less then a new born baby. So unless you have found out otherwise, bringing them to all-you-can-eats and places with big servings are quite pointless. Sightseeing/Shopping - Sentosa Don't need to say much lah, just bring and at least pretend you are interested with a place you probably have been to 100 times just based off school excursions. - Orchard Road *WARNING* Only if the girl isn't gonna ask you to buy her stuff! I have a very strict rule with all the girls I bring out (GF or friend), which is, I'm not cheap, but don't expect me to purchase anything on your whimp. If the girl is young, bring her to Far East Plaza. It also brings back old memories of me when I was but a kid trying to be cool, hanging outside. If not, Ngee Ann City (Taka) is a nice place as well, the lower floors especially (less ex, all the expensive boutiques are ground floor up). - Botanical Gardens Just walk, chat, sit down and have a drink. Hell, surprise her with your own picnic basket. Taking a girl out doesn't need to be extravegant and expensive affairs, local or foreign. Night Life - St. James I suggested this first because it is the only multi-themed club in Singapore. Don't like House music at Powerhouse? Bring to Boiler Room for some R&B. Most younger Thai girls like R&B, if not it's a fair mix of House and Trance. - Clarke Quey If your girl isn't so much a dancing type as a chatty type, then Clarke Quey has a wide range of bars, ranging from decent to totally "attas". If everything is a little too pricey for you, Boat Quey is a decent alternative. However, it's reputation is actually exceeding GL for being a lawless area with regular fights and police patrols. I didn't mention any Thai locations; I reckon you would know where to go for those. And I also believe, if it's her first time in Singapore, the last thing she would wanna do is to eat Thai food or go to Thai bars . However, for Thai food: Sbey Sbey - Sunshine Plaza (Excellent soups and khao kapreaw gai) Thai Food Vendor in kopitiam (NOT the francise Kopitiam beside Hotel Randevous) - Opposite Staind hotel, just a stone throw away from Sbey Sbey. (Awesome Som Tum, very popular with the "thai workers" here in Singapore, met a few... aquaintences here more then once) For Isaan food, Golden Mile, first floor, with a new orange signboard (forgot name). Awesome Isaan food with reasonable prices. For example, the pla phao is much cheaper then other places in Singapore (that I've been). Also, if the northern thai cruisine doesn't suit your palette, they are okay with you ordering from other shops. Thai Discos: With the recent influx of Thai Discos, the ones I had the most fun in: Bangkok Disco (Near the old Hard Rock Cafe) V3 Life On Stage (Near Boat Quey) I've heard there is one or two at Orchard Towers that is okay, but I try not to bring any girl, no matter their profession, there if I have a choice... and I always do Hope that helps! |

If girls are from Isaan, no need to go expensive places as most are probably farmers daughters. They like to see the sea as Isaan is landlocked and most have never been to a beach (unless working in Pataya before)-so East Coast Park or Bedok Jetty will be Ok (its also free). For lunch, can try the Geylang Serai Market-they will feel at home with all the similar looking malays there. Malay food is quite close to Isaan in terms of presentation but the taste is very different-so the Isaan girls will be quite happy to be trying something very different in a homely environment. For desert, try the Chee Kong (Cheng Thn'g ) stall and the girl can order it herself from the stallholder's Thai wife. After lunch, can shop at the bazaar behind the foodstalls -can try one stall near to carpark selling female malay clothes/accessories and jewellery -the stallholders speak excellent Thai (wife from Bangkok in seems). After that cross road to Joo Chiat to shop at Joo Chiat Centre and visit little Vietnam-try some viet food at the many coffeshops there. Lke that can easily spend an eventful day on a budget.
