Tailors In BKK
Hello all bros. Im going to Bangkok later this month and one of my primary aims is to get a tailor made suit there for a wedding I have to attend later this year. Since there is a lot of bros here who is very familiar with the place im wondering if there are any recommended tailor I could go to for good quality suits at a reasonable price? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Tailors In BKK
The thing is i read up online that some tailors although cheap usually end up with shoddy workmanship eg buttons falling off , stitches not strong enough etc.. a trusted tailor is not easy to find even here..

Re: Tailors In BKK
hiiii.......
i did my suit at this tailor hmmm abt 2 yrs ago, recommended by friend who did his and bestman's suit for his wedding there too. http://www.ambassadorfashion.com/map.htm its 5 mins walk from asoke station & city lodge. i stayed in the city lodge opposite westin hotel, so when they finished my suit, they sent to me to the lodge. (btw, digress a bit, city lodge is quite a safe hotel, cos the last time i stayed there and half drunk and brought a gal back in wee hrs, the staff actually helped me take down the gal's particulars in case she was a con-gal). suggest u shd stay long enough in bangkok for at least 2 fittings. for me, i think i bargain for better price for doing one shirt too, and got a tie free. have to bargain! best is to bring a local or singh cos the boss is a singh. for my suit, quality not bad. but i suggest pricewise u shd ask around to get a feel. and also, eg. if they are coming to spore, and ur vital stats dont change that much, from their records, they can have your clothes done and delivered to you when they reach spore. price-wise, must check with them. add on, sorry i forgot how much i paid! but i recall is either average or slightly above average price. regards.......

Re: Tailors In BKK
Actually you don't need to go all the way to LOS to get a cheap suit. There is 1 shop located opposite IP which sells pretty cheap suits. PM me and leave your contact number for the specific location of the shop.

Re: Tailors In BKK
Hi,
I've used Thai Square Fashion for some years, not the cheapest in town , but none of the others I've tried comes close in quality. They've just relocated to Wireless road just before Conrad, if you are coming down from Sukhumvit. Cheers |

Re: Tailors In BKK
Go along Sukhumvit road n have a look. Alot of tailors there. The thing with tailors is that you must have some basic experience to know what u are looking for. Quality wise and pricing.
I did a suit + pants n 3 shirts for SGD300. The suit n pants material is italian fabric, Super 110s. Feeling is soft, smooth and very comfortable. Very cheap compared to what you pay in SGD. In SG, the suit along with good quality italian fabric can cost $200 already. The shirts i had were very good quality cotton. The most important thing is u know what quality to expect. Just by feeling the fabric, u should roughly know whether it's high quality wool+cashmere blend. For the cotton to make the shirts, just feeling the cotton, u must know whether it's good quality cotton. Personal judgement is very important. If you do not know all these, get an experienced fren to go along. If u really dun have frens there, go shopping here more n get a feel of what to expect. Roughly u can feel n know, for a certain feel/texture of cotton, u should be paying a certain amt of money. Have at least 2 fittings for your shirts, suit and pants. I prefer tailoring coz it can be customised to everything. Trust me, it's cheap in bangkok. I buy shirts n get some tailoring at times. If i go bangkok again, i'll tailor more shirts n pants. I went to this place. I had a good vibe about the manager there, look for Charlie at MYERS Thaisilk & boutique custom tailor. Add: 153 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 11/1 It's very near Sukhumvit BTS. within 50m walking distance when u get off the train. Good luck |

Re: Tailors In BKK
Dudes in my experience with BKK tailors so far - in a nutshell it is not worth the trouble. General guideline - if the pricing is too cheap there has to be a catch. The fabric for the shirts are tissue thin and the super 100s that they claim are 100% wool - it is not possible at all and trust me on that since i am rather familiar with fabrics. Its is likely to be poly/wool - which is why it is so cheap.
the first time i did it, the shirt collars werent stiff and they turned upwards when i wore it with a tie! and for the second time ( at a diff shop - the collar started to show signs of the heat sealing treatment peeling - meaning you can see little lumps on the collar. in short - if you want cheap - dont tailor becos there is a price for customisation and quality. if you want quality and are into details then by all means there a few good ones at Peninsula Plaza. and also - unfortunately indian tailors have been receiving quite bad reps for being con artists - fuck me for this but i have to agree. mebbe its the modus operandi of business but you often end up dissatisfied. the chinese ones are better skilled. i have been tailoring my stuff for years and this is my experience so i hope bros here can benefit from it. |

Re: Tailors In BKK
Dear Friends
Just to share my experience as well on Bangkok tailors. I was introduced to three different tailors by Singapore friends, Thai friends, Singaporeans living in Thailand, all of them with goodwill from these friends. Sad to say, none of these tailors did a good job. Most of them screwed up the work I wanted; wrong measurements, forgot to make buttonholes, wrong colour for shirt pocket (imagine that? blue shirt and deep blue colour for shirt pocket!) And one of the tailors was so called 'top class' Narry's tailor. They advertise a lot in the airline magazine and it looks impressive. But the service and tailoring really sucks big time. And the material for one of my suits, was really awful, one dry clean and the whole suit was like it was dipped inside acid. Fyi, I made three suits, six shirts. Only one suit was good, the rest really cmi. The other tailors were equally bad, and there was a great lack of after-service, even when they did not do a good job and you asked them to re-do it. And all these tailors I experienced were Indian/Sikhs; no offence as I grew up with close Indian and Sikh friends. Now I stick to my Singapore tailor, as I know the standards and quality. I pay a little more but I get 100% of what I want. And from visiting the better tailors in Bangkok, the price is about 10% lower than Singapore, for good quality work. The tailors will always ask you for 100% payment before delivery. I suggest you dont do that if possible, so that you have some bargaining power if they dont do a good job. Dont know if this is possible, so other brothers who know the market, please enlighten us. Cheers Bro. |
