Does having a car really improves your social status towards girls?

Car is a two-edged sword. I am coming to 50s. So I see more con of it then pros.

Cons..... you lose your job, you still have to pay for the car loan. The car loses about S$ 15k a year, so definitely not an asset and will also set you back 20 to 30 years for retirement. So I always find it comical when people tell me they cannot retire yet they own a car.

Pros..... you up your social status or hook up girls easier. I have to ask one more question. Did you up your social status the right ladder or hook up the right girls?

From women pov, if you need car to impress a women. It mean you are a loser and you got no game at all. Of course that is why you need a car to overcompensate for the fact that you cannot chase girl just like how some guy go geylang to satisfy themselves instead of getting fkbuddy. Not sure whether you are a man or woman. But the general statement stands true. Whether those "losers" have no game or not, having a car helps with the dating game. This is Singapore.

Second, the type of car you drive tends to attract different types of women from diff social class. Eg: if you drive a camry and you want to hook up with a surgeon, lawyer, banker. This is gonna be difficult, unless you really have game like dressing, attitude, humour etc etc.

Though, there are no fix formula. Generally, the rule of thumb holds true. Also, most women marry up than down and most are hypergamous.

Never driven a car in my life in SG. I heard after 11 years, you need to scrap the car? Any clarification on this? If true, it's a bloody liability.

After end of 10 years when the COE of the car expires, you either renew the COE (yes, PAY again) or scrap the car and LTA will return you the scrap value (which they hold for 10 years without paying you a fucking cent of interest).

I think u and your friend is missing the object of the exercise. The object of the exercise IS NOT for girls to jio u for free makan. The object of the exercise IS to fuck girls.

I am not one of those in white but as a parent, I would really hope that they can raise the price of cars at least 3 folds. But of course, this is me being selfish. I rather have cheaper houses.

Imagine, Singapore is so small, you can either use the limited land to build road or build house. Should we build more road or more houses?

Have more car then means we have to use more petrol. Means it will damage the environment further. Even if we use electricity cars..... what do we use to generate electricity? Don't need petrol to generate electricity is it? hahhaa.

I think you can be quite creative and offset quite a lot of the maintenance costs of a car. I drive a Conti and I offset my weekly petrol cost and part of my annual depreciation by renting out my ride on Drivelah, for example.

Don't be fixated on the base case of paying the entire costs of ownership. Buying a well-maintained 9 year old conti car can be much more rewarding than buying a new Jap car. It takes more effort and some creativity on your part though. Take fuel costs - choose a diesel, and pump at white pumps (not at petrol stations). Before pandemic, I would go across to Malaysia and buy 30l jerrycans of diesel (you can pay the duty on the way back). SCDF allows up to 30l of diesel to be stored per premises without permit.

End of the day, whether car helps or not, depend what type of woman u are chasing.
