But they are bringing the Indians by plane loads every day , no idea what they are doing now, to curb or increase the COVID numbers

Open to Brunei and New Zealand also no one dare to come as the cases here is very high. Even Hong Kongers also do not want to come, would not be surprised they will ban indians from here going there as Air Asia flights got ban by Hong Kng

Every person that's brought in, is put into 14 day quaraine and is not released into community before testing negative. So there's no risk of community spread. It's not tourists from India either, it's EPs and PRs. Government keeps up the compulsory 14 day quarantine to give a life line to hotel industry - as they're used for SHN. Also every person pays $2000 + $200 for a test.

NZ tourists are not coming, not because of cases, but because they are banned from travelling. Not sure how many tourists would come from HK, given all the restrictions the only thing you can do in Singapore is shopping, and that's pretty good in Hong Kong already.

Government should admit they overreacted and it's time to accept that the cost of attempting to control the virus is higher than the cost of the virus itself.

Then we hav our patrols who visits them...n our patrols r at risk lor.
Our workers r cautious n protected tho...but doesnt mean no risk.

The only way we regain normality is if we abandon this mindset of avoiding covid risk at all cost.

There's no such thing as no risk. Not from covid, and not from many other, worse, things. We always lived with risk, why in 2020 risk became illegal is fucking insane to me.

If you want GL open then you should campaign for borders to be wide open too. Because the only way we reopen GL is if we abandon the obsession with controlling covid.

My point is that GL is open only in a world where we don't care about covid anymore. There's no reality where borders are wide open (2019 style) but GL is closed. Consequently, there's no reality where borders are tightly controlled, but GL is open.

Oh and I couldn't give less of a fuck about $50 category, I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

I agree with you. If GL is open without open borders it will be meaningless. What will we do? Go the different houses and remember our glory days in splendid solitude?

That said I can see this from the governments point of view also. If preparation for this pandemic was based on SARS then government had good reason to be extra cautious. 28 casualties good just have been 280, if covid spread in a nursing home etc. As much as I like a good bonk, if I was in government I would also have to err on the side of caution. You can imagine the flak the government would get if there were 1 or 2 super spreader events arising out of Geylang.

My only hope is that the government not use this as an excuse to extinguish our playground or inadvertently kill it.

My forecast is that GL will reopen at the back end of 2021. Am more than happy to be wrong on this one.

They are overwhelmingly still done at hotels (SDF - SHN dedicated facility)
Only very few countries are exempt. India is obviously not one of them.
