IS PAP'S VICTOR LYE TOO BLIND TO USE GRACE FU'S ONESERVICE MOBILE APP TO REPORT MUNICIPAL ISSUES?

Submitted by farhan on Sun, 19/04/2015 - 12:02am

Dear All Singapore Stuff,

The Online Citizen reported that a resident at the Aljunied GRC has shared a photo of a notice that is posted up on the noticeboard of Blk 460 Hougang Avenue 10.

The notice by Citizens' Consultative Committees accuses the Aljunied Hougang Punggol East town council (AHPETC) of not taking responsibility and ownership of a faded zebra crossing at the GRC and that the town council had to be reminded by the CCC to repaint the zebra crossing.

If you look closely at the Citizens' Consultative Committee, it is helmed by Chairman Victor Lye, the man who recently was spotted distributing flyers discrediting WP in Aljunied GRC. It is strange that despite being the CCC's Chairman, Victor Lye is clueless of the correct channels to solve this zebra crossing "problem".

If anything, shouldn't Victor Lye should be the bridge between the people and the Government in helping bring improvements to our lives.

If you recall, in January 2015, Minister Grace Fu launched the OneService mobile application which allow members of the public to send feedback over estate cleanliness, infrastructure and other municipal issues to the Government. The application allows the public to send feedback on municipal issues on one common platform and automatically sends each feedback to the relevant agency, allowing authorities to respond faster to problems reported.

The app is free and available for download from the Apple Store and Google Play. A geo-tagging function in the app will pinpoint the exact location of the problem. Users can also provide images of the problem through a photo-taking feature.

So you see, instead of directing the complainant to use the OneService application set up specifically for these complaints, Victor Lye chose to print a big notice complaining about the Worker's Party's tardiness in dealing with estate issues.

When in fact, the complaint should be directed to the Municipal Services Office and not the WP-run AHPETC.

Maybe it is time for the PAP to set aside their bias and start carrying out meaningful projects to help Singaporeans, rather than carry out such unproductive acts to gain political brownie points with the electorate.

Don't you agree?
