Can know how much the new flat ? Heard very expensive
a new 5 room flat at 110m2 is going for an average price of $330K in Choa Chu Kang. Other areas like Punggol will be higher. But compare to resale flat, its still cheaper
managed only to get 15k grant cost its not near to my parents place...
but yup, after calculation its manageable without any cash top-up...
shall wait 5 years later then maybe upgrade again....
I can see the reason for the 15k grant as your spouse is not singaporean nor PR. when i bought my flat around 6 years ago, i got 30k grant as my wife was PR . But its always good to have your own place.
My baby was borned in Vietnam ... it takes about 1 mth after submission to get her Singapore Citizenship Certificate.
She is travelling to & fro using Vietnamese Passport ... however, her Vietnamese passport came with a Right of Singapore Entry Stamp which last til she turns 21 yrs.
Congrats on your baby girl ah. 1 month after submission is not bad. I wonder if your baby is a boy, will the approval be faster than 1 month? Boys can serve NS, SG govt surely more eager. At 21, she must choose between being Vietnamese or Singaporean right? If the Singaporean parent is the mum instead of the dad, I think the baby girl might not be given Singaporean citizenship as easily.

If I'm right, he can choose between being American or Singaporean at age 21 but he must come back to serve NS first at age 18.

I know of a guy who was born in Malaysia to a Malaysian father and Singaporean mother. Family shifted back to Singapore after he was born. He served NS and was made to chose citizenship at age 21. He chose to be Singaporean. His Malaysian father was given the option of a 5 yr LTSVP recently so that his father doesn't need to do the annual extension of his previous 1 year LTSVP.
Anyone heard of a 5 yr LTSVP? Was told it's available. Can this 5 year LTSVP be available for your vietnamese spouses? Seems a lot less troublesome than to do annual renewals of 1 year social visit passes.
i never heard of 5 yrs LTVP. maybe for malaysian, case is different. Vet and Thai spouses, never heard got more than 3 yrs before.
I think ah... Heavily pregnant ladies might not be allowed to fly so incidents of a lady reaching sg and give birth 1 week later are not often. Plus if you read from this thread, sometimes the Viet ladies are rejected at immigration without reason. A lady come in heavily pregnant will definitely attract attention. Plus this is a dragon year so gynaes are super busy. Without a pre-determined gynae, quite risky to just pop into any hospital to give birth. Singapore won't be a Hong Kong where China ladies just anyhow pop into a Hong Kong hospital to give birth in the hope of getting Hong Kong residency.
I was told that babies born to Singaporean men can get citizenship immediately even if the babies are delivered overseas. My cousin's kid was born in England as he was away for work attachment. No issue getting citizenship. It seems there might be an issue if the baby is born to a foreigner father and a Singaporean mother. Citizenship will only be given at age 21, I think.

yup...that was what i was told but i think is only additional 10k grant...
but nowadays HDB flats getting smaller..think my 3-rm is only 67sq metres..
i just booked appt for PR and earliest is 2 mths time in July lol...
usually, the country that the child is born at is usually given that country's citizenship.
This is not really the case in Singapore and many other countries. Yes, i know its practised in the US and some western countries. But to come to Singapore to give birth, the foreigner will need to show proof to ICA that she has been doing follow up consultation at a singapore based gyane for the past few months before giving birth. During application for permission to give birth in Singapore, foreigner will also be briefed that her child will not be granted Singapore citizenship nor PR. Its just for giving birth in Singapore, part of the Medical Tourism programme.
U mean the husband or the wife is 35?
I think it depends on case by case basis, my wife's cousin n her husband are more more than 35 but my wife's cousin still can get 1 yr LTVP every year for the past 4 yrs liao. I know a VB previously whos husband is in the 60s n she got 1 yr too. Even my colleague whos wife is Thai n both of them are above 35 also got 1 yr for the past 3 yrs. i think ICA lately gave out mostly 1yr LTVP.
Wei Wei .. wake up wake up ... We are talking about the Criteria of buying a HDB Flat ... NOT applying or re-newing LTVP.
Please read properly la
Back to that . it's the applicant or Spouse of the 'foreigner'.
To buy a flat (resale):
Your non SC wife must have a VALID Pass (= LTVP)
if apllicant is > 35 , spouse validity DO NOT need to have a 6 mths validity.
if applicant is < 35, spouse MUST have at least minimum 6 mths Validity on the time of application.
I just called HDB ..
even though your wife is non SC but as long as u have a SC child, you CAN apply for a NEW flat.
1 month after submission is not bad. I wonder if your baby is a boy, will the approval be faster than 1 month? Boys can serve NS, SG govt surely more eager
I think It will be the same ... should not be any different .... the only different is must serve NS only.
about 1 month is provided you apply SC for you child before 1 year. IF you apply SC for you child after the 1 year period ... duration can even be much Longer as you need to submit many documents and letter of explanation why you apply SC so late.

YES ... but then if at the first place he did not apply for SC under descent, then he is not a SC, therefore he do not need to choose whether AMerican or SIngaporean.
FYI .. a child can hold 2 Citizenship & 2 Passport ... at age 21, he MUST decide which Citizenship he wants.
