My stand has always been if one has no confidence in the way the government runs the country, don't buy the property.

There are many out there who are not happy with the "high-hand" methods of how SG government runs the country and thus do not want to live in SG or buy the property. This is fine, because buying a house is own's choice.

Likewise today we as a foreigner wants to go to Thailand and buy a house, whether for own stay or investment. Let's ask ourselves, whether the current political situation allows our purchase to be a wise one.

Investors all over the world when they want to invest in a country, the way as to how things are being run in that country by their govt, determines a lot.

If today, I as a foreigner, wants to buy a condo in Thailand, I will be mentally prepared that my investment one day will be eaten up. Why?
Because the govt can suka suka change rulings just like that. Already a govt can suka suka be overturned by military law.
I buy a condo, I collect as much rent as possible. Till who knows one day any silly fellow can suka suka come out with a rule to forbid foreigners from owning any form of property. (It may happen, why not

Generally, property in Thailand can buy, but always be mentally prepared as certain rules and regulations are not to our advantage as a foreigner. And rules and regulations can be changed, with laws being passed.

U do not need to throw away singapore passport to get thai PR.

Thai PR is time consuming but there are certainly advantages of being a PR than having just a work permit/tourist visa/spouse visa.

And its not whether waste time or not,its whether u can get it or not.

There are definitely successful stories ard. Just that the jialat ones normally belong to those who met their spouses at entertainment joints. Our bro here could (should) be married to someone who is not from the working arena.

Yes!! Thai PR is not easy to get neither it is very difficult too. Usually, priority quotes are given to those applicants with thai family-tie (having thai wife or thai children ).As long anyone has a 3yrs continually extension of their work permits, he/she is eligible to apply for it. You can either apply it yourself or go through some local thai agents. I do it myself with the help of my thai wife. The immigration officials are all very helpful.

So I suggest those bros who are currently working in thailand and have proper documents like work permits, tax papers, give it a attempt for their thai PR.

Nobody know what will happen in the near future. Your present employer may one day cancel your work permits ,ask you to pack your bag and go back sg. What if by then, you already have your own family here and don't want to leave thailand. Are you going to return to thailand on 1 mth tourist visa again ??
So no harm trying. S'poreon saying: Never try, never know??

Everyone have the right to comment on the "Giving up spore passport for thai PR" issue u have raised.

We all think that was a wrong statement. Our views comes from each individuals. Not unless we use clones to parrot reply the same post.

Once there was a samster named Mr Romance. Now there's a Mr Romantic. hmmm...interesting.

Thai PR or Work Permit or whatever, there are advantages. Thailand is not an easy place to stay and work. working in thailand can be very frustrating.
