Re: Serious About Learning Thai
I think the word is "Soot Yord" which means fantastic or "at-the-top" for thai folks.
If you want to use the word "Soot Yord" to the hilt where it's the ultimate, then say "Soot Yord Cheep Hai" nothing beats the "Cheep Hai" *laughing* normally it means "emptying until it is no longer empty" Like the word "Baa" which means crazy. "Baa Cheep Hai" means bonkers-bar-none. Thai folks laugh if u use the word "Cheep Hai". be careful though, it also shows that u have been around to know certain words and the thai folks will make it harder for you to get what you want at your fair price. Here's another word which the Thai folks use on sammyboy visitors to their country and getting conned....."Bread".....It means "idiot" and it is a stronger than "ngou" which means stupid. I have seen Thai individuals take greater offense at being labelled "Bread" than "ngou" or "ngou cheep hai". Have good fun...."sanuk dee" |

Re: Serious About Learning Thai
"dao" in hokkien is "yingg" in Thai. If you want to say "mai haolian" to a girl in thai, then say "mai or lor". "Or Lor" is can be described as "showing off" but it is usually used in accordance to men-women kind of actions or displays which concerns mating competition.
