But true enough, cases on the increase, reopening carries on nonetheless. Not surprised it will be 200+ or more next week. It's like playing russian roulette

Edit : It is 200+ already TODAY !!! [/QUOTE]

Daily infections will reach the thousands within weeks and eventually over the next 2-3 years we will all get it like we had flu before.

Re: Spa electronic visitor registration - beware of risk

Sorry to dig out this old thread.

I am just wondering if most spas are now using digital registration? I do not mind giving my real particulars, but I am more concerned on the security of their systems.

And could we use our passport number for registration instead of NRIC?

Thanks.

I think it depends on the size or chain of the spa. If it's one of those reputable ones, they can afford digital registration.

Most spas have a few ways to register and all have pros and cons...

- Digital registration - You enter your info on an ipad so you don't know who else came before you. But your information is shared by the spa owner with third party people usually or can be open to hacking or data theft. SPF can obtain the full records as allowed by law.
- Paper based registration done by receptionist - you have to hand over your IC to the receptionist who will copy it down themselves. They won't show you the register so you won't know who came before you but they will copy usually the full details of IC and name as required by law. Some will feel uncomfortable with handing over IC for the receptionist to document the accurate information.
- Paper based registration done by customer - you scribble anyhow Lee Kuan Yew nric 701234567A and the receptionist don't care. Problem is if SPF comes for spot check and notices irregularities or if the register cannot be read clearly, the owner gets into trouble and can be fined or worse. So the massage owner takes that risk. Plus you get to see who else came to the spa if they write it down accurately.
- No registration needed. Massage or spa must have registration by law. Beauty salon don't need registration but they are not allowed to do massage.

Cannot use passport I think, and even if you do, the accurate collection of data means SPF will have your data anyway.

No matter what, your data will be collected, so if you provide fake info, if SPF spotcheck and notice your name is different from the register, they can give you a very hard time cos they can say you're trying to hide something. The massage act now requires accurate data to be recorded lor so if you want to get a massage, have to register.

Re: Spa electronic visitor registration - beware of risk

Once registered mobile number in one spa in AMK/Serangoon North.
Not sure if it add to all the incoming scam calls/ whatsapp, sms

I would not venture anymore to spa which require registration of any sort. There are others, which do not registration.

In any case, venture over causeway, no registration required

Hi Bro,

Thanks for your sharing. I do not actually mind providing genuine info during registration or for SPF to have my info. My concern is on other malicious parties having my info. It seems slightly safer with paper registration (but how do I identify such spas or MPs?)

As for passport, my thinking is at least it is an impermanent number unlike NRIC.
